One of the top Argentines at Barcelona is no longer interested in wearing the colours of the Catalan club.
It is understood that Javier Mascherano has told Barcelona he wants to leave and play in the United States.
The former West Ham and Liverpool utility man had the choice of China or Qatar for what will presumably be one final big payday.
But the 33-year-old hopes to hit America and the MLS when he quits Barca at the end of the season, according to Catalan news outlet SPORT.
The versatile Argentinian, who can play in defence or as a midfield option, isn’t a regular choice this season.
Instead, he is having to make do as a fringe member of the Barcelona squad.
Mascherano signed for 2010 and has gone on to make 330 appearances, winning a total of 17 honours.
His haul includes four La Liga titles, four Copa Del Reys and two Champions Leagues.
Having been converted into a ball-playing central defender, he’s been an excellent servant to the club.
