Mourinho could risk losing against Benfica if he picks these 2 Man Utd players – agreed?

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting their side’s winning form to return on Wednesday evening. The Red Devils had a difficult time against Liverpool over the weekend, with Jose Mourinho setting his side up to secure a draw against the Reds. In that sense, it was a decent performance, but they’re going to have to improve going forward if they want to secure a win against their next opponents, Portuguese giants Benfica.

Man Utd’s Champions League campaign is going well for the Red Devils, with Jose Mourinho leading his side very efficiently. They’ve won back-to-back games, and they’ll undoubtedly be keen to secure another victory on Wednesday. Benfica won’t roll over for the Manchester giants, though, and so Jose Mourinho will have to work hard to get a win.

His team selection will definitely play a part in the game, and our landlord thinks that the form of a few key players could really define the result for the Red Devils. If they play poorly, the consequences could be dire.

With that said, Mourinho could risk losing against Benfica if he picks these 2 Man Utd players – agreed?

Victor Lindelof has rarely played in the Premier League, but he has been an ever-present in the Champions League thus far.

He has looked decent in the competition, but it’s easy to see why he hasn’t featured much in the Premier League. There is always a sense of risk about his play, and it often seems as though he’s only ever a few minutes away from a mistake.

It remains to be seen whether he will continue to hold a position at the back in Europe, but if he does, Mourinho would certainly be taking a risk. Not only has his form been far from perfect, but given that he played for Benfica prior to moving to Old Trafford, the Portuguese outfit will know all about the defender. They could try and exploit him.

Luke Shaw needs game time, undoubtedly. But Man Utd’s clash against Benfica is a game that the Red Devils should be looking to win, and he simply hasn’t been good enough this season.

He has looked off the pace, and whilst Man Utd will be expected to comfortably defeat their Portuguese opponents, they can’t take anything for granted. If Shaw plays, they could look to exploit him.

Mourinho doesn’t have too many options at the back, and long-term Luke Shaw should be the man they go for, but at present, given the significance of the game, it’s probably safer not to risk him.
