The Nigeria international started for CSKA Moscow in their Champions League win over Benfica, and had scouts from Manchester United present at the Stadium watching him and his teammates.
Manchester United scouts were at the Estadio da Luz to watch Nigeria’s Aaron Samuel, his CSKA Moscow team and Benfica during their Champions League clash on Tuesday.
The Red Devils are in the same group as Samuel’s CSKA, Benfica and Basel, whom the English side beat 3-0 at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
And Samuel started for the Russian side and lasted 67 minutes, before being replaced as they won 3-2 at Benfica.
According to the official clubs, scouts and intermediaries list, the Red Devils representatives were at the stadium to run the rule over the players on both teams ahead of their Champions League games against CSKA Moscow (September 27) and Benfica (October 18).
But it wasn’t only Manchester United who had scouts watching Samuel and his teammates, as scouts from Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton, Huddersfield Town, Leicester City, Newcastle United, Watford, Brighton & Hove and West Brom also had scouts in the stadium to check on the progress of CSKA and Benfica players.
AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus, Real Sociedad, Eibar, Tondela, Valencia, Villarreal, Wolfsburg, Sevilla scouts were also in attendance.
