Barely few weeks from dropping his massive jam Jedi Jedi , which has been getting airplay and massive downloads, Nigerian trending rapper jibby is here on your #1 Entertainment hub with intriguing answers to all your all in this short conversation below:
What’s you name?
What’s your stage name?
What inspired you into doing music?
My God given talent inspired my passion for music
What inspired your passion for music and who has been there supporting you from the beginning?
Well my producer (TeeVybez) has been with me for the past 5years that I have been doing music professionally. Also I got my mum, a supportive cousin and brother. They’ve both been supportive financially, morally and have also helped with ideas to improve my craft. I also have a team, #teamjibby who are in fact family to me. They’ve been doing all they can to push my brand to the whole world. Big shout to everyone on d team. Love you all.
Is music hard?
Lol, I won’t say music is hard or music has been hard for me because it is what I love to do and I do it with so much ease. Instead music could rather be challenging especially when you are trying to build a fresh career. You know everything man does is done with money. You need to promote your songs, shoot videos, make promo Cds, do radio tours and so on. So I think looking at it from that perspective music may be challenging.
Any challenges on releasing your singles?
Funny enough I think the major challenge is what song to put out especially when you have recorded a whole lot of songs. You wanna put out the best to u which might not be your managers favorite. So you have to carefully select the song to release.
We heard you have a lot of fans, is that right?
Lol, If I get plenty fans wetin make d likes of Bieber, Drake, Wizkid or Davido come talk say dem get? But seriously they all started somewhere. Presently I have a fan base am monitoring based on the number of downloads my songs get. And we are almost at 10,000 already. So it’s okay to say I have about 10k loyal listeners /fans. Well I think that’s quite massive for an upcoming artiste who runs all of his musical promos without the help of the biggest blogs, sites, radio stations or any record label. Big shout out to King Chidex, Wale visuals, Obylexie, Touchvogue, Mike D Pundit, Mic on the mic, BeccaOnAir and every other person supporting one way or the other.
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
I see myself already established, lifting other talented and passionate artistes touching lives with my music and putting smiles on the faces of everyone who listens to my music. I think that’s more important than any other thing.
What is your relationship status now? Any baby mama?
Lol baby mama ke?? Don’t think I wanna disclose anything about my relationship buh definitely no baby mama.
Do you have any female crush in the industry and why?
Well, maybe Seyi Shay. Beyond the Nigerian industry, I love Alicia Keys big time. She’s my crush for life. I love Alicia cos she’s exceptionally talented, very responsible she doesn’t expose her body unduely, she has a powerful voice, she sings for everyone and of course she’s beautiful in and out.
Who have you always dreamt of working with and why?
Still Alicia Keys simply because of the qualities I mentioned above. Buh apart from Alicia, back home I would love to work with Lagbaja, Tu baba, Davido, Vector, Burna boy, Kwam1 and small doctor. Yes small doctor.
How would you go about accomplishing this?
I would keep doing what I know how to do best till the opportunity comes around
What has been your greatest achievements?
Hmmm, Musically I don’t have any for now buh I thank God for everything He has helped me to achieve within a short while. Buh most importantly my greatest achievement is giving my life to Jesus.
As you are starting out your career in the music industry what steps do you plan on taking to reach your goal?
I have already carved a niche for myself with my style of music (RAPFRO-fusion of rap and afro sounds). It’s a unique style which will help me reach my goals. Other bigger plans will come as a surprise so stay fixed.
From your experience so far, what have you found to be most challenging? And how are you dealing with it?
I already mentioned in question 4.
From your experience in the entertainment industry what advice could you offer people looking to get where you are today?
Make ur passion ur profession, its easier to succeed that way. Keep doing what u have passion for and always be the best at what u are doing. The only person who can stop you is you. The sky is wide enough for all birds to fly.
Do you have any hidden talents?
