It’s been a stellar start to the season for the Blues, with a defeat on the opening day to Burnley doing little to halt their momentum.
After a draw with Arsenal last weekend, it’s essential that the Blues pick up a win against Stoke City this weekend, but the Potters will not be an easy opponent to overcome. Mark Hughes is leading his side well, and he’ll look to shut Chelsea out.
Antonio Conte, then, will have to be smart tactically in order to overcome the Premier League outfit, and that could mean changing a few of his personnel.
Indeed, a couple of players disappointed last weekend, and so it might be time for them to sit this one out.
With that said, Conte should drop these 2 Chelsea players against Stoke today – agreed?
Gary Cahill is often a scapegoat in the Chelsea team, but last weekend he was deserving of the criticism he received from the fans in the Transfer Tavern.
He looked awkward and uncomfortable on the ball, and that is not something that Conte should allow to happen.
Conversely, Antonio Rudiger looks assured at the back, and so the German would be a perfect replacement for his English rival.
Cesc Fabregas has enjoyed a decent run in the Chelsea first team, but it’s time for that run to come to an end.
He is very inefficient defensively, and that has cost Chelsea on more than one occasion so far this season.
Conversely, Tiemoue Bakayoko is now up to speed and is beginning to look very good in the Chelsea midfield, and he is perfectly suited to playing in a midfield two alongside N’Golo Kante.
Fabregas’ lack of mobility is costing the Blues, and that’s a big problem giving the physicality in the Stoke team.
